Small games, a sustainable pace

Finding a scope we can keep working on, before making bigger promises.

While thinking about a first game, we keep returning to two questions. What do we want to make? And can we keep making it over time?

For now, the second question matters as much as the first.

Beginning small

A small game does not need a smaller sense of wonder. Beginning small means finding the essential experience, then choosing a scope that lets us actually try it.

We have not decided what that experience will be. This is not the moment to promise a game title or a list of features.

A pace we can sustain

Reach Stella is a one-person studio. Rather than adding every idea at once, we want to leave room to look carefully and make changes.

The current direction is to find a pace that leads naturally into the next piece of work.

Keeping a record is part of the work

Writing down what we thought and what changed can help us remember where the next decision began.

This journal will hold things we have actually tried alongside questions that remain open. We want to keep a small beginning moving, without rushing it.

See you at the next observation.
